Creative Writing Courses, Retreats & Mentoring: Autumn 2026

If you’re looking for a creative writing course, writing retreat or one-to-one writing support this autumn, I’ll be offering several ways to make more time and space for your writing.

From my 10-week online creative writing workshop to a writing and meditation retreat in Pembrokeshire and individual writing mentoring and editorial support, each is designed to offer writers a combination of structure, encouragement and creative community.

Whether you’re returning to writing after a break, beginning a new project or looking for support to develop work already underway, here’s how you can work with me this autumn.

10-Week Online Creative Writing Workshop

My 10-week online creative writing workshop returns for its fourth year on Tuesday 6 October 2026, from 6–8.30pm.

The course is open to writers working across fiction, creative nonfiction, memoir, poetry and playwriting, from keen beginners to more experienced writers.

Rather than separating writers by genre, we work together across different forms. Reading fiction can transform the way we approach narrative nonfiction. Poetry can teach us about precision and imagery. Plays can help us understand dialogue, character and scene.

Each week includes:

  • a carefully selected reading

  • an optional creative writing exercise

  • group discussion and teaching

  • opportunities to share and workshop your writing

  • constructive feedback from a supportive community of writers

The writers who benefit most are able to attend the majority of the live online sessions and dedicate a couple of hours each week to reading and writing outside the class.

Most writers from last year are continuing with the group, so there are currently just three spaces available for autumn 2026.

Writing, Meditation and Digital Detox Retreat in Pembrokeshire

For writers looking for more concentrated writing time, my next residential writing retreat in Pembrokeshire, Wales runs from 20–25 September 2026.

The retreat combines long periods of independent writing with meditation, creative writing workshops and time in nature.

Each morning is held in silence until midday, creating several uninterrupted hours in which to write, read, reflect or simply allow ideas to emerge. The retreat is also phone-free, offering a rare opportunity to step away from the distractions of everyday life and give sustained attention to your creative work.

Alongside independent writing time, the retreat includes creative writing workshops, meditation, vegetarian food, coastal walks, cold sea swims and time with a small community of other writers.

Writers bring everything from novels and memoirs to poetry, essays and projects that are still taking shape. You do not need to arrive with a finished manuscript or even a clearly defined project.

There are currently two final spaces available for 20–25 September, including one private room and one shared twin room.

One-to-One Writing Mentoring and Editorial Support

I also offer one-to-one writing mentoring and nonfiction editorial support for writers who want individual feedback and guidance.

You might have a memoir, personal essay, nonfiction book or book proposal already underway and need an experienced outside perspective. Or you might have an idea you want to write but need help finding its structure and working out how to begin.

My one-to-one support can include:

  • writing mentoring and creative coaching

  • nonfiction book proposal development

  • manuscript assessments and editorial feedback

  • memoir and personal essay feedback

  • pitch and article feedback

  • support developing and structuring a new writing project

The support is shaped around you, your writing and what you need to move forward.

If you’re unsure what would be most useful, I offer a free 20-minute introductory call. You can tell me about your project, where you are with it and what you’re finding difficult, and I can recommend the most appropriate kind of support.

Make Space for Your Writing This Autumn

There is no single way to build a creative practice.

The structure and accountability of a weekly group can keep us going, while a few days away from ordinary life can give us the space to immerse ourselves in a project. At other points, having someone read our work carefully can help us see where to go next.

My creative writing courses, retreats and mentoring are all built around those different needs.

May this new academic year bring you the creative inspiration you need, in whatever form it takes.

In peace and solidarity,
